My Way

i met a man walking up to me named andre

who said he goes by his last name

he believes in unconditional election

it don’t make since to me today

if it’s your will for them to recognize your favor

soften their heart to what you’d have ‘em hear you say

I struggle to understand the higher things he’s saying

in a pulpit speaking on grace

but i hear the pride in his voice

not of a work he’s done

that he believes he can boast in

but a God who called him by name

maybe I’m jealous cause I wish that I was worthy

to earn some kind of frame

in which you picture me in something more than mercy

wish I could earn my way

who could deny you if you show your face

but if you only drag some

‘at can it possibly say

‘bout your desire to save

help me believe as I struggle with discerning the ways in which you are

to be deserving of my praise

i yield my e’rything unto your understanding

if you granted me my strongest desire

let it not be a wisdom

of more than men

but a heart that’s after you

how am i to become a paul from the shell of saul i’m in

my appeals not coming from a place of impure sin

but a God who called me by name

maybe I’m jealous cause I wish that I was worthy

to earn some kind of frame

in which you picture me in something more than mercy

wish I could earn my way

i yield my e’rything unto your understanding

if you granted me my strongest desire

let it not be a wisdom

of more than men

but a heart that’s after you

how am i to become a paul from the shell of saul i’m in

my appeals not coming from a place of impure sin

but a God who called me by name

maybe I’m jealous cause I wish that I was worthy

to earn some kind of frame

in which you picture me in something more than mercy

wish I could earn my way

so would help me be humble

help me believe

keep me let me continue knowing

you’re everything I need

I wish I could earn my way

Thank you Jesus for showing I can’t

Change my heart to sing

I’m grateful that God

perfect unlike me

is the one who made and is
