You Can't Outrun Yourself

You can blame the world,

You can point at everybody else.

But eventually...

You gotta face the person in the mirror.

You keep runnin' from the fires that you started,

Playin' like the victim when you're bein' cold-hearted.

Every bridge you burned, every promise that you broke,

You keep callin' it a joke when somebody gets hurt.

You got excuses stacked higher than your pride,

Tellin' everybody stories just to keep your hands tied.

Say the world did you wrong, say nobody understands,

But you can't build a future with excuses in your hands.

You want forgiveness without sayin' you're wrong,

Want everybody back but you pushed 'em along.

Keep dodgin' every question, keep avoidin' the truth,

But the biggest thing you're runnin' from is you.

RUN, RUN, RUN, but you can't hide forever!

Every lie you tell just pulls the truth together!

FACE, FACE, FACE what you left behind!

You can't heal the damage if you keep actin' blind!

Oh-oh, you gotta own what you did!

Oh-oh, stop runnin' like a kid!

The truth don't disappear just 'cause you walk away,

You can't outrun yourself at the end of the day!

You say you're changin', but you're stuck in the same place,

Different situation, same lies, same face.

You want respect, but you won't take the blame,

Keep throwin' stones while you're hidin' your shame.

Apologies mean nothin' when your actions don't change,

Can't keep hurtin' people, then expect 'em to stay.

You can't erase the past, but you can make it right,

Takes a stronger kind of person just to stand up and fight.

Ain't nobody perfect, everybody's got scars,

But accountability determines who you are.

Stop pointin' at the people who were there through the rain,

And start takin' responsibility for the pain.

Growin' up ain't about the years you've lived,

It's about the truth you face and the respect you give.

A real apology ain't just words you say,

It's showin' everybody that you've changed your ways.

RUN, RUN, RUN, but you can't hide forever!

Every broken promise doesn't magically get better!

FACE, FACE, FACE what you left behind!

You can't fix tomorrow while you're livin' in denial!

Oh-oh, put your ego on the shelf!

Oh-oh, take a good look at yourself!

You can run from your problems, but they'll always remain,

Until you own your mistakes and finally make a change!

Everybody makes mistakes...

Not everybody takes responsibility.
