When The Foundations Fall

Children lost in classrooms, voices stilled by hate,

Saints cut down in worship, a leader meets his fate.

The earth groans with sorrow, the righteous seem so small,

But the Lord is still in heaven when the foundations fall.

When the arrows fly by night and the shadows steal the day,

When the wicked rise in power and the truth is swept away,

We will lift our eyes to Jesus, the eternal Lord of all,

For our home is not on earth when the foundations fall.

He tests the hearts of nations, He sees through every lie,

The wicked drink His judgment, the righteous lift their eyes.

For the Lord is love and justice, His kingdom has no end,

The upright will behold Him, our Savior and our Friend.

When the arrows fly by night and the shadows steal the day,

When the wicked rise in power and the truth is swept away,

We will lift our eyes to Jesus, the eternal Lord of all,

For our home is not on earth when the foundations fall.

No more tears, no more sorrow, no more pain to bear,

Every wound will be mended when we see Him there.

Though the night is long and bitter, the dawn will surely come,

Eternal life is waiting in the arms of God’s own Son.

When the arrows fly by night and the shadows steal the day,

Still the righteous stand in hope for the stone is rolled away.

We will see His face in glory, the King who conquered all,

Our forever rest is heaven when the foundations fall.

For the righteous Lord loves justice,

The virtuous will see His face.
