Where the Memories Sleep

Down beneath the world I know,

There’s a place where lost things go.

Every name and every dream,

Buried where the memories sleep.

Followed my shadow through a midnight door,

Found a thousand photographs across the floor.

Every picture held a life erased,

Every broken clock held a familiar face.

Saw a younger me standing in the rain,

Holding every promise that I’d made.

Maybe peace means carrying yesterday.
