Dreams I Chase

They’ll tell you what’s realistic.

They’ll tell you when to quit.

But they don’t have to live your life.

I spent too many nights staring at the ceiling,

Wondering if the dream was worth believing,

Everybody had opinions on the road I chose,

But nobody knows what my heartbeat knows.

I wasn’t made just to survive,

Punch a clock and slowly lose the fire inside,

There’s something bigger calling out my name,

And I’d rather fail chasing it than never leave the gate.

Every setback built another step,

Every “no” put fire in my chest,

If the door stays locked, I’ll make my own way,

I didn’t come this far just to play it safe.

Go after dreams like your life depends on it,

Run through the fear, put your whole heart in it,

Even if nobody sees what you see,

Keep moving forward till the dream becomes reality.

Hands to the sky, let the whole world know,

I’m betting everything on the road I chose,

I don’t need permission, I don’t need a sign,

I’m chasing what’s mine till the day that I die.

Maybe it’ll take ten years, maybe twenty more,

Maybe I’ll bleed before I reach that door,

But every mile means I’m further than before,

And quitting ain’t something I’m fighting for.

I want the view from the mountain I’ve climbed,

Knowing every sacrifice was worth the time,

When younger me looks back someday,

I want him proud that I never walked away.

Go after dreams, even scared, even tired,

Turn every doubt into gasoline and fire,

Let them laugh while you’re building your name,

They’ll understand when they see what you became.

Keep that vision alive inside—

Some dreams are worth the fight.
