Black Sap

Beneath the lattice, under stone,

The wirevines bite the bone.

Branches whisper names in coal,

Sugar of sorrow in every bowl.

I cut the bark and hear it breathe,

Tar-dark memory starts to seethe.

What drips out is not the past—

It’s everything we couldn’t ask.

Put your ear to the trunk and wait,

Hear the hush turn into weight.

Black sap—bleed the tree,

Draw the night out of me.

Tongue of ash, teeth of rain,

Sweet with ruin, thick with pain.

Black sap—let it run,

From a thousand buried suns.

I will drink what we forgot,

So the orchard doesn’t rot.

Pith of thunder, tannin grief,

Bitter resin, holy thief.

Press of shadows, pulp of names,

Stains the hands like quiet flames.

Wardens watch with lantern eyes,

Harvest stars from fallen skies.

Every drop a vow we kept,

Every fruit a life that slept.

Put your ear to the trunk and wait,

Hear the hush turn into weight.

Black sap—bleed the tree,

Draw the night out of me.

Tongue of ash, teeth of rain,

Sweet with ruin, thick with pain.

Black sap—let it run,

From a thousand buried suns.

I will drink what we forgot,

So the orchard doesn’t rot.

If the roots remember storms,

Let them carve me into forms.

If the soil remembers fire,

Let me feed the hidden choir.

Lay my mouth against the seam—

Make me vessel, vein, and stream.

Cut—drip—count the hours.

Sip—grit—wake the flowers.

Black sap—bleed the tree,

Trade my light for memory.

Carry sorrow, carry grace,

Through my marrow, leave a trace.

Black sap—let it end,

Turning poison into mend.

I will hold what others lack—

Give the living nectar back.

If the roots remember storms,

Let them carve me into forms.

If the soil remembers fire,

Let me feed the hidden choir.

Lay my mouth against the seam—

Make me vessel, vein, and stream.

Cut—drip—count the hours.

Sip—grit—wake the flowers.

Black sap—bleed the tree,

Trade my light for memory.

Carry sorrow, carry grace,

Through my marrow, leave a trace.

Black sap—let it end,

Turning poison into mend.

I will hold what others lack—

Give the living nectar back.
