There's a light on at the station,
From Dillonvale to Mount Pleasant,
Smithfield down to Rayland way,
There's a voice upon the line,
Somebody's worst day is starting,
Somebody's giving their time.
Yorkville and Tiltonsville,
They're ready night and day.
Brilliant up through Wintersville,
Steubenville and Toronto too,
When that radio starts talking,
They know what they've got to do.
They leave supper on the table,
Leave their families at the door,
'Cause somewhere there's a stranger
Who needs them even more.
They're the ones who run toward the fire,
The ones who answer every call,
The ones who stand between the danger
And people they don't know at all.
Firefighters, police and EMS,
Dispatchers on the line,
Across Jefferson County,
You're there every single time.
From the river to the hills,
Here's to our heroes still—
We see you, we thank you,
And we always will.
Bergholz and Bloomingdale,
Richmond, Empire standing strong,
Mingo Junction, New Alexandria,
They've been answering all along.
East Springfield, Pleasant Hill,
Unionport and Stratton too,
Irondale, Knoxville—every town,
Here's our thank-you straight to you.
Some are paid, some volunteer,
But when someone cries for aid,
They don't ask what they'll receive,
They just answer anyway.
At Jefferson County 911,
There's a headset and a voice,
Keeping someone calm and breathing
When fear has taken away their choice.
They're the voice before the sirens,
Saying, "Help is on the way."
To dispatch, deputies, police and medics—
We thank you here today.
Twenty-five years have come and gone
Since that September morning sky,
But we remember those who ran in
While a nation watched and cried.
Tonight we remember the fallen,
And honor those still here—
Every badge, every helmet,
Every voice we need to hear.
Sometimes courage is a pager,
A radio, a 911 call...
And somebody simply saying:
"I'll go."
Here's to the ones who run toward the fire,
Here's to the ones behind the shield,
Here's to the hands that keep hearts beating,
And never leave the field.
Here's to the voice at 911
Saying, "Help is on the way."
Here's to every hometown hero
Who gets up and does it again each day.
From Dillonvale to Steubenville,
Across our county's towns and hills—
We see you.
We thank you.
And we always will.
No cape.
No fame.
No need to know their name.
Just someone who heard the call...
And came.
