Learning to Follow

(Verse 1)

Remember the day we said “I do,”

He held my hands, I promised truth.

But no one told me love runs deep,

That trusting him meant letting me…

Step aside, lay down my pride,

But my heart still wrestled, wondering why.

(Verse 2)

I was raised to stand up strong,

Have a voice, know right from wrong.

But in the quiet, God spoke through,

Said, “Daughter, love means yielding too.”

Not silence, not chains—just letting him lead,

But Lord, why’s that so hard for me?

(Chorus)

Is it losing, is it learning?

Is it strength or is it hurting?

Am I fading, am I growing?

Lord, this war inside keeps showing…

Teach me grace, teach me wisdom,

Help me see Your perfect vision.

Not less of me, but more of You,

I’m learning to follow, learning what’s true.

(Verse 3)

Some days his words cut me deep,

And I bite my tongue but I still weep.

Is this submission or shutting down?

Am I his helpmate or just backing down?

Then I hear You whisper through the doubt,

“Love lays it down, but it still speaks out.”

(Bridge)

I see now, it’s not just blind devotion,

Not drowning quiet in the motion.

It’s standing firm with gentler hands,

Trusting You, trusting him,

Letting go but holding on,

Finding strength in making him strong.

(Final Chorus)

It’s not losing, it’s still learning,

Not just pain, but love that’s turning.

Not fading, but finally growing,

Lord, this peace inside is showing…

You gave me grace, You gave me wisdom,

Now I see Your perfect vision.

Not less of me, but more of You,

I’m learning to follow, learning what’s true.

(Outro)

Hand in hand, heart in place,

Submission’s not weakness—it’s covered in grace.

Not silence, not shadows, not fading away,

But choosing to love in a God-given way.

It’s trust, it’s faith, it’s learning to bend,

Not losing myself… but learning to mend.
