Lyrics
[Intro]
Shoes tied tight, snacks in the pack
Sugar Loaf, we’re coming—no turning back!
[Verse 1]
At the trailhead, I pose like a champion
Five steps later, I’m negotiating with a pigeon
My water bottle rolls downhill with pride
I chase it yelling, “Wait! We’re on the same side!”
[Pre-Chorus]
The hill says, “You can’t,” I say, “Watch me try”
My knees write emails, but my heart replies
One more bend, one more breath, one more view
If I can climb this, I can probably text you
[Chorus]
Up, up, Sugar Loaf, we rise today
Sweat on my forehead, but I’m still okay
Up, up, everybody, shout it out loud
Tiny little steps make a very big proud
Oh-oh, we’re higher than yesterday
Oh-oh, snack break, then we’re on our way
Up, up, Sugar Loaf, look at that view
I came for the mountain—now the mountain knows me too
[Post-Chorus]
Hey! Ho! Step by step we go!
Hey! Ho! Even when the legs say no!
Clap, clap, turn around
Sugar Loaf, we own this ground!
[Verse 2]
A squirrel stole one cracker, promoted itself to king
My friend says, “Keep moving,” while secretly feeling the same thing
The sign says “moderate,” that’s a dangerous word
My backpack has become the heaviest thing I’ve ever heard
[Pre-Chorus]
The clouds look close, the trees lean in
I trip on a root, then call it a spin
No perfect climber, no perfect plan
Just laugh, breathe deep, and climb while we can
[Chorus]
Up, up, Sugar Loaf, we rise today
Sweat on my forehead, but I’m still okay
Up, up, everybody, shout it out loud
Tiny little steps make a very big proud
Oh-oh, we’re higher than yesterday
Oh-oh, snack break, then we’re on our way
Up, up, Sugar Loaf, look at that view
I came for the mountain—now the mountain knows me too
[Rap Break]
Left foot, right foot, confidence loading
Trail mix crumbs and the courage exploding
Breath gets short but the jokes stay strong
If the summit feels far, then we sing this song
No elevator, no shortcut, no fancy limousine
Just a stubborn little dream and a very muddy knee
Point to the peak, let the whole crew say:
“We didn’t quit yesterday, we won’t quit today!”
[Bridge]
When the path gets steep, lean into the climb
The goal gets closer one small step at a time
[Male Harmonies]
I’m not alone, you’re not alone
Together we can make this hill our home
[Final Chorus]
Up, up, Sugar Loaf, we rise today
Sweat on my forehead, but I’m still okay
Up, up, everybody, shout it out loud
Tiny little steps make a very big proud
Oh-oh, we’re higher than yesterday
Oh-oh, our tired legs still know the way
Up, up, Sugar Loaf, look at that view
I came for the mountain—now the mountain knows me too
[Outro]
At the summit, I bow like a superstar
Then ask who packed the snacks and where the bathrooms are
Up, up, Sugar Loaf, we made it through
Funny, brave, inspired—and slightly out of chew!
