UMBRELLA
Flora and fauna, failure and karma, kill the ego, rebuild the honor, water when wanted, become the farmer of your own soul, grow through the trauma, dig through the dirt, let the roots get longer, life gets harder but you gotta get stronger. Marijuana burning, turning to smoke, not a victim of the drama I wrote, I’m just using my medulla, medulla oblongata, calculating every little move that I make when I’m caught in the rain and the whole world shakes.
UMBRELLA! Hope you brought your umbrella! When the clouds roll over and the thunder gets louder, when the rain comes down and the streets get flooded, when you're looking for somebody but nobody comes running—WHERE'S YOUR UMBRELLA?! You better have an umbrella, better have a handle, better have a plan when the weather gets scandalous, better understand that the storm don't care if you're rich, poor, famous, nobody—RAIN FALLS EVERYWHERE!
Ooooooooooooooo—Ooooooooooooooo—WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Wwwwwwwwwwoooooowwwwwww! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
If it rains, you might drown, hope you brought your umbrella when the rain comes down, if the roof caves in and the river leaves town, if the world turns upside-down, don't sit around waiting for somebody else to come rescue you now. Umbrella up! Head down! Feet planted! Don't drown! Umbrella up when the pressure comes, umbrella up when the weather comes, umbrella up when the money runs, umbrella up when the damage comes, umbrella up when the panic comes, umbrella up when the hammer comes, umbrella up when the answer's none—YOU STILL GOTTA FACE WHAT YOU'RE RUNNING FROM!
Life isn't a sink, you can't wash it down, can't drown every problem with another round, “just one more drink,” let the liquor spin, but the storm keeps coming from the outside in. Time is the currency—spend it wisely, no rewind button, no refund, pricey, no handouts waiting, no savior arriving, clock keeps ticking while you're barely surviving. Lights out—unless you're rich and you never cash out, sucking on the tits of the corporate cash cow, somebody did the hard work while you're sitting high-brow, looking down at the people from your ivory tower—OH WOW.
But when the rain starts falling and the thunder starts calling, and the water starts crawling up over the walls—WHO'S GOT THE UMBRELLA?! I got an umbrella! Not because I'm special, not because I'm better, not because I know the answer to every storm and every weather—I built it from the failures, built it from the pain, built it from the mistakes that kept falling like rain. Every tear became a thread, every loss became a seam, every nightmare became material, every failure became a beam.
HOME MADE! That's because—I am home made, trying to change, trying to rearrange every old way that kept me stuck inside the same maze. Turn it all around, upside-down, from the inside to the out, turn the umbrella inside-out when the wind tries to knock me down! Flip it! Rip it! Fix it! Grip it! If the wind comes vicious, if the storm gets malicious,
