Dead Ends Make U Turns

DEAD ENDS MAKE U-TURNS

Funny thing about a dead end—

It only wins if you park there.

Turn around.

I’ve been staring at a wall like the road disappeared,

Whole year went left, now the windshield ain’t clear,

Had plans in the passenger seat, hope in the rear,

And a tank running low off another bad year.

But I learned something riding where the street signs stop,

You can lose your direction without being lost,

You can watch everything that you built get dropped

And still have two hands when it’s time to rebuild from the rocks.

Everybody loves the view from the mountain top,

Nobody talks about the miles when your engine knocks,

When your confidence quits and your circle gets small,

When you’re one bad phone call from saying, “Forget it all.”

Nah—

That’s when you find what you’re really made of,

Not when it’s easy, when the pressure stays up,

Life put a wall where I thought I’d break through—

I backed that thing up and found another route.

Dead ends make U-turns,

Wrong roads make you learn,

Sometimes everything you wanted

Ain’t everything you earned.

Let the old plans burn,

Let the whole world turn,

You ain’t finished when the road ends—

Dead ends make U-turns.

Maybe you lost that job, maybe love walked out,

Maybe money got thin and the lights went out,

Maybe everybody around you got life figured out

While you’re fighting just to keep your own head above doubt.

Don’t compare mile markers, we don’t run one race,

Some bloom at twenty, some at fifty-eight,

Some lose everything and come back great,

Some need one bad year just to change their fate.

You’re allowed to get tired, just don’t call it done,

Allowed to lose rounds without saying they won,

You don’t need ten years figured out by one—

Just find the next road and keep your foot on the run.

Red light. Green light. Wrong turn. Rewrite.

Long nights. Hard fights. Still got daylight.

No map. No signs. Still got two eyes.

Road closed? Cool. I’ll find another way by sunrise.

Dead ends make U-turns,

Hard lessons still burn,

But the scars that you carry

Are receipts for what you learned.

When the old bridge burns,

Build another and return,

You ain’t buried by a setback—

You’re just waiting on your turn.

Dead ends make U-turns,

So turn that wheel and go,

Sometimes losing where you’re headed

Is how you find a better road.

A dead end ain’t the end.

It’s just the place

where you decide

what direction comes next.
