Highs & Lows

I’ve been standing on mountains, feeling ten feet tall,

Then waking up the next day feeling nothing at all.

Some nights I’m laughing like the pain never came,

Some nights I’m staring at the ceiling, questioning my name.

I learned good days don’t mean the storm is gone,

And bad days don’t mean you can’t keep moving on.

Life keeps changing like a radio,

One minute high, next minute low.

I’ve had doors swing open, had ’em slam in my face,

Had people swear forever, then disappear without a trace.

But every rise and every fall

Built the person through it all.

These are the highs and lows,

The heaven and the hell I know.

The days I feel unstoppable,

The nights I barely hold my soul.

I’ve been loved, I’ve been left,

I’ve been blessed, I’ve been wrecked.

But every road I’ve ever chose

Made me stronger through the highs and lows.

I’ve watched dreams come alive right in front of my eyes,

Then watched plans fall apart without a warning sign.

I’ve had brothers beside me when the world got cold,

And learned some people leave when the story gets old.

I’ve smiled in pictures while fighting inside,

Told everybody “I’m good” when that was a lie.

Still I kept putting one foot ahead,

’Cause something in me refuses to quit.

Maybe life ain’t supposed to stay perfect,

Maybe every scar has a purpose.

You can’t appreciate the sunrise

If you’ve never survived midnight.

So when I’m up, I’ll enjoy the view,

When I’m down, I’ll keep pushing through.

I know the wheel keeps turning slow—

Nothing lasts, not even the lows.

These are the highs and lows,

Every victory, every broken road.

Every laugh, every tear I hide,

Every time I fell and still survived.

I’ve lost myself and found me again,

Lost some people, gained some friends.

And when my whole life finally shows,

I’ll be proud I lived through the highs and lows.

So here’s to the good days,

Here’s to the pain,

Here’s to losing everything

And finding yourself again.

I wouldn’t erase a single road—

They made me who I am…
