Samuel, our love

October eighteenth, heaven knew your name,

A precious boy was born, our lives would never be the same.

The doctors said your time might be so brief,

But God gave us nine years beyond belief.

Through every battle, every painful day,

You found a reason to smile along the way.

So gentle, joyful, brave and full of light,

Our little fighter, shining through the night.

Every breath became a prayer,

Every moment, love was there.

We called you Samuel, but now we see,

Miracle was your destiny.

Oh Samuel, our miracle, our light,

You fought so hard, you shone so bright.

Nine years of love, forever in our hearts,

Not even death can tear that love apart.

And though our arms are empty now,

We trust that Jesus holds you somehow.

No more suffering, no more tears,

Our little miracle through all the years.

Your mother's hands were always there,

Through sleepless nights and whispered prayers.

She gave her strength, her heart, her all,

And held you close through every fall.

Your father's love runs deep and true,

He'd give the world for one more day with you.

Your little sister will remember your smile,

A brother's love that lasts beyond a lifetime.

Now silence fills the place you knew,

And every room reminds us of you.

We ask God why, but answers hide,

Still we believe He's by our side.
