I kept calling, phone in my hand, no reply

Watched it ring out while I stared at the sky

Friends said they got me, then disappeared in the smoke

Family went silent when the weight got too close

I dialed ‘til the screen went black, battery dead

Heard the ringing turn to nothing inside my head

Every message I sent started feeling the same

“I’m good, just checking,” while I’m drowning in the rain

I don’t need much, just a voice on the line

Somebody pick up and tell me I’m fine

But the quiet gets louder every time that I try

So I look up and scream at the sky
