Last Outside Play

Soft birds chirping, sweet and clear

A memory so distant, yet so near

The bright sun setting on days long gone

We didn't see what was moving on

Running through the fields, laughter in the air

Barefoot on the grass, without a single care

Echoes of our voices, melodies so free

Didn’t realize those days were fleeting, never meant to be

Morning doves and bicycle bells whispering our silent goodbye

We cry out, tears we can't deny

Heartbeat pounding like the last of the night

Playing outside, hiding in plain sight

Last time playing outside, shadows in the fading light

Never really knowing it was the final night

Memories in the wind, lost in time’s flow

Longing for a moment we’ll never truly know

Heartbeats beating a heavy, hollow sound

Birds singing softly, a lonely dawn

Fading echoes of childhood’s sweetest song

Knowing we’d never get those moments back for long

Quiet winds carry what’s left behind

A silent prayer for the innocence we’d find

Playing outside, last glimpse, sweet and deep

In our hearts forever, those dreams we keep.

Looking back at those memories, our hearts forever weep.

For those days are forever gone. So we made this song.
