Through The Cracks

Verse 1

The sky was painted gold and blue

But I kept running from the truth

Spent all my days outrunning light

Thinking shadows felt more right

Built my shelter out of doubt

Locked the bright side out somehow

Didn’t know what I was escaping from

Until the daylight was gone

Pre-Chorus

Funny how the dark feels safe

Until it asks you what remains

Chorus

I’ve been chasing the sun away

Turning noon into shades of gray

Running from warmth with my eyes shut tight

Trading forever for one more night

But the light keeps finding me

Through the cracks I couldn’t see

Maybe I was never meant to run

Maybe I was made to become

The one who stays

Instead of chasing the sun away

Verse 2

Every cloud became my crown

Every smile I turned around

Held my breath against the tide

Carried storms I couldn’t hide

But dawn keeps showing up again

Calling me by who I’ve been

Not who fear convinced me was true

Not who pain said I turned into

Bridge

And if the sunrise reaches me

I won’t turn and disappear

I’ll stand inside the morning

And let it make me fearless here

Final Chorus

No more chasing the sun away

No more giving my hope away

I’ll open windows, break the shade

Step into the life You made

Let the warmth undo the cold

Let the light reach what I hold

Today I choose to stay

And stop chasing the sun away

Outro

The sun was never leaving…

I was.
