I don’t think you ever knew what you did for me.
You came into my life with four little paws,
a wagging tail, and those eyes that somehow
always seemed to know when I wasn’t okay.
There were days I smiled when I wanted to cry,
days I told everyone I was fine when I wasn’t.
But you never needed an explanation.
You’d just crawl beside me, put those little paws on me,
and stay.
And those puppy kisses on my face,
that little nose against my cheek,
somehow made me feel human again.
People might look at you and see a dog,
but I see my companion, my baby, my family.
I see the little Mountain Cur who found me
when I didn’t even know I needed saving.
You’re my little human in dog form,
my shelter when the world gets cold.
You found the pieces I had lost
and helped me make them whole.
You’re my Mountain Cur, my baby boy,
my little piece of heaven and joy.
Wherever this life takes us,
wherever we may roam,
I’ll always be your mommy,
and you’ll always be my home.
You never judged my worst days.
You never cared about my scars.
You just loved me exactly as I was,
and somehow that love was enough.
Not everybody gets a little soul
with four paws and a heart that big.
Not everybody gets a companion
who can make the darkest days feel lighter
without saying a single word.
But I got you.
And someday you’ll grow older.
Those little paws won’t be so little,
and your face will change with time.
But I’ll always see the puppy
who curled up beside me
and reminded me that I wasn’t alone.
You were just being Nox.
You never knew you were saving me.
But you did.
And if I could give you every beautiful thing
for every moment you’ve given me,
I would.
Because you aren’t just a part of my life.
You’re a part of me.
My little Mountain Cur.
My companion.
My baby boy.
And no matter how many years we get,
one thing will never change—
I’ll always be your mommy.
And you’ll always be my little human in dog form.
