Heal the Brokenheart

When my heart is torn to pieces

And no one sees how deep it hurts,

When my soul is tired and weary

And hope can barely find the words,

You whisper, “I am close beside you,

Even when your heart is breaking.”

You gather every shattered piece,

You never leave me in the dark.

You heal the brokenhearted,

You bind up every wound.

What I can no longer carry,

I can place into Your hands.

You heal the brokenhearted,

You count every tear I cry.

You hold me when I have no strength,

You never leave my side.

“Do not fear, for I am with you.

Do not be afraid, I am your God.”

When all my strength has disappeared,

You carry me, step by step.

When I walk through deepest waters,

You are there and walk with me.

When I have to pass through fire,

Your eyes never leave me.

And when I cannot see the answer,

When tomorrow hides in mist,

You are the light for my next step

Even when I don't understand Your way.

You are close to the brokenhearted,

You save the crushed in spirit.

No pain is ever hidden from You,

No tear is ever lost.

You know them all.

You know me.

You heal the brokenhearted,

You count every tear I cry.

You hold me when I have no strength,

You never leave my side.

“Do not fear, for I am with you.

Do not be afraid, I am your God.”

When all my strength has disappeared,

You carry me, step by step.

“Come to Me when you are weary,

When the weight becomes too much.”

So I come to You, my Father,

With everything I cannot carry anymore.

With my questions.

With my wounds.

With my fear of tomorrow.

With the people that I love.

With everything I've lost.

With roads I do not understand.

And You say,

“I am with you.”

Not when I'm strong again.

Not when I understand it all.

Not when my heart is whole again.

Now.

You make a way inside the wilderness,

You bring rivers to the desert ground.

What today may look like an ending

Can bloom when Your hands reach down.

So I choose to keep on trusting

Even while the scars remain.

My wounds will never write my future—

You are still writing my story.

You heal the brokenhearted,

You bind up every wound.

You count every tear I've cried,

Not a single one is lost.

You give strength unto the weary,

You lift those who have fallen down.

And even when I walk through valleys,

You are walking there with me.

One day You will wipe away

Every tear from every eye.

No more death, no more mourning,

No more sorrow, no more pain.

You will make all things new.

Until that day, I'll hold on

To Your Word when I have none.

You are near.

You are faithful.

You are here.

And when my heart is broken,

You are still the God

Who heals the brokenhearted.
