Lyrics

[Verse 1]

You text me while they're waiting by the door

Say you miss the way we talked before

You keep your jacket on, your suitcase zipped

But leave your little promises on my lips

[Pre-Chorus]

You say it's complicated, say it's almost done

Then send me hearts when you get home to someone

[Chorus]

Don't hold my hand with one hand on the past

Don't call this something if you won't make it last

You want a new beginning, but you won't close the door

Keep your half-made goodbye—I won't be your almost anymore

[Verse 2]

You ask me not to disappear on you

While making plans for two, then adding me in too

You say, “Just wait,” like waiting makes it right

I’m not a secret tucked away at night

[Pre-Chorus]

You say it's complicated, say you're nearly free

But nearly isn't choosing me

[Chorus]

Don't hold my hand with one hand on the past

Don't call this something if you won't make it last

You want a new beginning, but you won't close the door

Keep your half-made goodbye—I won't be your almost anymore

[Bridge]

I’m not your landing place between two lives

Not the little spark you keep alive

When you know what you want, come honest, come alone

Till then, let my number rest in your phone

[Final Chorus]

Don't hold my hand with one hand on the past

Don't call this something if you won't make it last

You want a new beginning, but you won't close the door

Keep your half-made goodbye—I won't be your almost anymore

[Outro]

Not your almost, not your maybe

Make a choice—or let me be
